Children’s Ministry Director
The Children's Ministry Director is responsible for overseeing and executing all aspects of the MBC’s children's programs and events, ensuring a vibrant and engaging environment for children to learn and grow in their discipleship. This is a part-time position that reports to the Executive Pastor.
Key Responsibilities Include...
Equipping Hour:
- Select appropriate curriculum (currently using The Gospel Project).
- Recruit, train, and equip teachers.
- Coordinate classroom assignments based on size and age.
- Maintain necessary supplies for classrooms.
- Facilitate communication with parents.
- Manage attendance records.
Vacation Bible School (VBS):
- Choose VBS curriculum.
- Identify and recruit teachers and helpers.
- Coordinate and advertise VBS program
- Communicate with teachers, helpers, and parents.
Children's Church:
During the School Year:
- Check in monthly with Children’s Church primary teacher regarding Children's Church activities.
- Communicate with parents.
During the Summer:
- Select curriculum.
- Recruit, train, and schedule teachers.
- Set up the room each week for teachers prior to the worship service.
Event Coordination:
- Responsible for planning and executing special events such as the Christmas Show, Gingerbread Bash, and various family ministry gatherings, encompassing tasks from curriculum selection and advertising to securing supplies, managing logistics, and coordinating volunteers.
Core Characteristics and Competencies:
- Deep and growing faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.
- Desire to develop growing relationships with families from all demographics.
- Familiarity with common church/office software and social media tools.
- Planning Center, Constant Contact, Canva, and Meta Business Suite are a plus.
- Proven ability in working with and teaching children.
- Undergraduate degree in Education, Children’s Ministry, or similar field preferred.
- Ability to recruit and retain volunteer leaders.
- Agreement with MBC’s mission, vision, and statement of faith.
- Available to work an average of 6-10 hours/week, with more hours required for special events like VBS.
